A Lovely Day for Evaluation

Dear Folks,

I should soon get my cataracts operated on and be able to read better.  I have always enjoyed reading. If I were to do over my life, I would make even more time for reading and writing. Therein, I would not attempt to do so many secular social activities.  I would not participate in Boy Scouts, marching band, organized sports, or hang out with friends.  I would surely follow a home-schooling path, eschewing formal schools, which take so much time. .

Rather, I would make myself open to friendship within my local church, and I would serve within that church in accordance with the expressed needs of the church. I would study the Bible and theology on my own, obviating the growth of any "felt need" to attend seminary in later years.

3 Sept 2023 Update:
I sense that the Holy Spirit, in teaching and sanctifying me, has amended my "do-over" sentiments.  Were I to get a "do-over," I would still abstain from Boy Scouts, not hang out with friends, as noted above -- but I would indeed participate in school-sanctioned organized sports, but only serving as the Water Boy!  Yes, I would roll with the third-ranked wrestler in each weight class when at practice there is no 4th ranked wrestler for him to roll with, and the 1st and 2nd get more practice.

The odd man out would receive my support and attention in every sport for which I serve as the Water Boy.  Too much of my motivation in sports was to draw attention to me, I suspect now decades later.  I would rather play a supporting role and therein rub elbows with nonbelievers, while glorifying the LORD.
